Ujung Kulon National Park is located in the westernmost part of Java Island, Indonesia. This national park area also includes areas of Krakatau and some neighboring small islands such as Handeuleum Island and Peucang Island. This park has an area of about 1.206 km ² (443 km ² of which is the sea), which starts from the promontory of Ujung Kulon up to the Indian Ocean.
This National Park became the first National Park which was inaugurated in Indonesia, and also already established as one of the protected World Heritage by UNESCO in 1992, because the area covers a vast protected forest. To date approximately 50 to 60 rhinos live in this habitat.
At the beginning of Ujung Kulon is an agricultural area in a few days until finally destroyed and exhausted its entire population when Mount Krakatoa erupted on August 27, 1883 which ultimately convert this area back to forest.
