Purwodadi Botanical Gardens, Indonesia

Purwodadi Botanical Gardens is a large research farm located in Purwodadi, Pasuruan, East Java, Indonesia. The extent of 85 acres and has about 10,000 kinds of trees and plant collections.

Purwodadi botanical garden was established on January 30, 1941 by Dr. Lourens Gerhard Marinus Baas Becking on the initiative of Dr. Dirk Fok van Slooten on January 30, 1941 as a division of the Experimental Station 's Lands Plantentuin or Bogor Botanical Gardens Buitenzorg. This garden is one of the three branches of the Botanical Gardens Indonesia (Bogor Botanical Garden) who each have specific tasks and functions. Both of the other branch is Cibodas Botanical Garden and the Eka Karya Bali Botanic Garden. Management of the entire Botanic Garden is under the responsibility of Indonesian Institute of Sciences. 
 
Initially the garden was used for plantation crops research. Then in 1954 began to apply the basics perkebunrayaan is to start making patches of plant collections. Since 1980 some plants were reorganized according to ethnic group that adopted the classification system of Engler and Pranti. In development is expected to Central Branch Purwodadi Botanical Garden will be the center of plant conservation and penelitihan dry climate in the tropics.
